Angel Eyes Angel Eyes Novel Shannon Dittemore Cassandra Campbell Books

I am not a person who normally reads Christian supernatural/angelic/demon warfare type books. Too often, those types of books stray so far from the Bible it makes me too uncomfortable. About the only ones I've ever enjoyed have been Frank Peretti's This Present Darkness books. Those felt so real, like they could happen.

So when I heard several people who also don't normally read Christian supernatural books say they enjoyed these books, I decided I'd better give it a try. I'm so glad I did! This book just blew me away. Yes, it takes creative liberties with the angelic world, but all within the bounds of what the Bible tells us about angels and demons.

Angel Eyes Angel Eyes Novel Shannon Dittemore Cassandra Campbell Books Reviews

Even after her mother's untimely death, Brielle was having a pretty decent life. Living with her dad in the little town of Stratus, Oregon, they share a quiet existence together. When discovered by a talent agent at the age of sixteen, Brielle's life changes dramatically - for the better. As the only daughter of a logger, life as a ballerina in the big city is too tempting an offer to turn away. Two years later she returns home, much changed by her experiences. Death stalks her every breathing moment, and with it a jaded and jarring disappointment in the human race.

Brielle learns there is a world she cannot see, at least not until she sees with Celestial eyes. She can only see with her Terrestrial eyes, and the world that is opened up to her brings her beyond the point of her disbelief and the Maker who controls it all. What will it take to make her see the Truth? Will it take her death before she finally believes?

First, I'm going to say that book was an attention grabber. Secondly, while I feel that it was indeed written primarily for young people, the truths contained in this novel are for everyone. Thirdly, Dittemore's correlation between the Biblical Elisha and her presumably in-the-present setting was intriguing, enthralling, and breathtakingly mysterious all rolled into one. Last but not least, the ending definitely leave you hanging and wanting more, but that's just something you'll have to discover for yourself.
Well, I do have to say Angel Eyes by Shannon Dittemore is a bit of a different book than I usually read. It is a Young Adult book that’s one thing I do know, I do not know if I should classify it as a christian fiction novel, it does discuss a lot about God, Angels and Demons and everything that entails however some might think it is also Paranormal too. It is from HarperCollins Christian Publishers and Shannon Dittemore is a daughter and wife of preachers so I am sure she would classify it as Christian. As an Agnostic, I obviously took it more for paranormal but I am sure there will be tons of different views about it which I like!

Now, even though it is about God, Angels, and Demons and one girls belief about what is real after having two people in her life taken away from her far too soon I really enjoyed it and I give it a surprising 5 stars, It was not at all “preachy,” It was written amazingly well, there were very few parts that were boring or dragged on and on. Shannon describes things so vividly that you can really imagine being in Brielle’s world. One thing that at times got me confused was the many names Brielle goes by. Her birth name is Gabrielle, some people call her that, some call her Gabby, some call her Elle and some call her Brielle. I understand having nicknames and she does explain the Gabby and Brielle names but it was at times hard to keep up with but that would be the only flaw in this amazing book. It has a bit of romance in it but being a young adult book, it doesn’t really go pass kissing so pretty much anyone could read this. Young or old. I know that most of my blog readers know I do love the adult romance books this was a breath of fresh air to read a good, wholesome novel for once again.

I hope the christian stuff doesn’t scare anyone away, please take the time to read this and I am sure you will love it as much as I did!

Thanks!

Rochelle

Brielle has moved after her life crumbled around her. Things aren't as they were before and she is cold. Nothing seems to warm her until she meets Jake. Whenever she is around him she just feels warm and she finds reasons to be around him more and more.

When evil comes after Jake, angels step in to guard, but the enemy is strong and it is hard to protect Brielle and Jake both. When their paths crossed there seemed to be something pulling them towards each other, but evil seems to be tearing them apart.

I really liked the second half of this book. For over a year now I've heard good things about this series and so I finally decided to read it. It started off kind of slow, but my interest remained piqued so I kept reading and I'm glad I did. As the story moves on it picks up steam and really got me hooked. I'm excited to see what will happen in the two books to come.
